The 12 years after graduation were spent with HILTON, starting in Vienna as the building blocks and the foundation of this remarkable career. 2 years later, London Gatwick was calling and another year on, in 1988, he had the opportunity to join the growth of Dubai.
The adventure continued and took him through 2 years Madagascar and on to his first regional responsibility as Area Director Food & Beverage for Africa, based in Kenya. Greece and Mauritius were next on the list before Gert joined Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and moved to Saudi Arabia to open The Al Faisaliah Hotel. The next step with Rosewood, was in St. Moritz, Switzerland, at the Badrutt’s Palace and before Gert took
on The Dharmawangsa in Jakarta as Managing Director. Just prior to settling in Dallas, TX for 7 years, Gert went on to pre-open Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia while simultaneously working on several international assignments for Rosewood.
In 2012, Gert decided to part from his long-term employer and take a promising challenge with Jumeirah Group in Dubai as Senior Vice President RnB.
Two years on, Gert was offered the position of Chief Operating Officer of D.ream, a significant player in the international restaurant scene.
In 2017, Gert joined the highly acclaimed Hakkasan Group as Executive Vice President, Global Restaurants with Las Vegas as home base.
